Panda Express Orange Sauce has no animal products in it. Panda’s vegan version featured a wok-tossed vegetable dish with sweet and spicy orange sauce. Panda Express began selling a veganized version of its famous Orange Chicken in 2021, the first time it had done so. Now that Panda Express has added vegan orange chicken to their nationwide menu, they are available at all locations. Panda Express confirms that the sauce does not contain any animal ingredients. The dish’s main ingredients are brown tofu, eggplant, red bell peppers, and sweet and spicy sauce. Panda Express now provides the service at all U.S. Panda Express tested Beyond Orange Chicken for a limited time in New York City and Southern California. A few of the locations we spoke with also use animal products to fried it. We were told that the oil they use for frying is vegan – we also received word that the fryer is vegan as well. The orange chicken’s ingredients are vegan. Panda Express’ Chow Mein noodles are vegan, but they have a wok on the side. Beyond Orange Chicken is fried in a separate fryer with its own oil, but when the sauce is added, it is mixed into a wok with the other ingredients. Panda Express’ surfaces can come into contact with animal products, which raises the risk of cross-contamination. Panda Express does not serve vegetarian or vegan products. The restaurant also offers a vegan version of its famous Panda Bowl, which includes steamed rice, mixed veggies, and your choice of vegan protein. However, many of its items can be made vegan by request, such as the Eggplant Tofu, Kung Pao Chicken, Orange Chicken, and SweetFire Chicken Breast. Panda Express does not have any vegan-friendly options on its menu.
